kw vs appeals

Once I initiate an appeal by filing a notice of appeal, am I irrevocably committed to going through the entire process?

Video Transcription:

Filing a Notice of Appeal does not irrevocably commit you to going through the entire process. At any point in the appellate proceedings, if you no longer want to proceed with the appeal, you can file a Notice of Voluntary Dismissal. The 30 day deadline to file your Notice of Appeal is jurisdictional. Many times people will file that Notice of Appeal just to preserve their appellate rights, even if they’re not fully committed to going forward with the appeal.
